Peace Corps Blog

This is a blog of my experience as a Peace Corps volunteer, working in South Africa. My job title is a capacity builder, which means I help increase the effectiveness of a local NGO that does AIDS/HIV related work.

Quick Update

I am writing from an internet cafe in Zeerust (the big town near my homestay site for the training period). We decided to come into town for an adventure this Saturday. Keep in mind that the "exciting town" is a mere one road and about twelve blocks long, but compared to our training villages, it feels like quite a change.

Training is quite an experience. They keep us very busy with language and technical training, but my home stay family is wonderful and I am having a very relaxing time, all things considered.

Once I am able to use my own laptop to post, I will write a much longer entry detailing some of the excitement and some of the adventures of the training experience.

Awesome. I am so excited everything is going well and an adventure is under way. Everyone here is well. New house is making good progress finally and I sold the two Oliveira paintings. We are hoping you will start posting images soon although maybe I didn't look in the right place yet. Love you.

Nathan! You're out rocking the universe, I'm so excited. I hope you're having a lovely time and eating some amazing food (isn't it weird how other cultures' foods are much better than ours?) and meeting some fantastic people!

I'll be stalking you via your blog. Have an amazing training period; it's always great to learn a new language. Yessss...

You popped up on my Facebook and I went exploring. It's great you're working with the Peace Corps. I think I have friends in/near Pretoria, I will have to investigate and get them to send you presents if they're still nearby.
